Voces Cellars El Viajero Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon
Named for “The Traveler,” El Viajero from Voces Cellars is a Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon that reflects both journey and place, a wine that bridges the boldness of California fruit with the restraint and structure of old-world winemaking. Crafted by winemaker Martin Reyes, MW, and sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards across Sonoma Valley and the Mayacamas foothills, it captures the region’s diversity of soils and microclimates. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in small lots with native yeasts, and given extended maceration to build texture and fine-grained tannins. Aging takes place in French oak barrels (approximately 40% new) for 18 months, allowing the wine to develop layered aromatics and seamless integration. In the glass, El Viajero offers a complex aromatic profile of blackcurrant, plum, and dried herbs, framed by subtle cedar, tobacco leaf, and graphite tones. The palate is concentrated yet balanced, with a core of dark fruit supported by lively acidity and well-defined tannins that lend focus and longevity. Hints of cocoa, anise, and crushed stone emerge as the wine opens, finishing long and precise. Elegant and deeply expressive, this is a Cabernet that honors Sonoma’s cooler-climate character; polished and structured, with enough depth to age gracefully yet approachability to enjoy now. It’s a testament to Voces’ philosophy: wines made with authenticity, patience, and a clear sense of origin.
