Grochau Cellars Convivial Gamay & Pinot Noir

$ 28.00

Wine brings people together- a liquid catalyst for conviviality.  This 75% Gamay Noir and 25% Pinot Noir blend is meant to be just that.  Bright and dynamic, this wine is best enjoyed with merry conversation and happy company.

Varietals and Vineyards: 75% Gamay Noir, Havlin Vineyard, VanDuzer Corridor AVA. 25% Pinot Noir, One Heart Vineyard, South Salem Hills.

Winemakers Notes: We co-ferment the grapes, with the Pinot Noir going to the tank whole cluster, and the Gamay Noir being destemmed. We did not inoculate the fermentation with yeast, instead it started spontaneously with native yeast. We managed the fermentation with a mix of “punch-downs” and “pumpovers” during the 2 week fermentation. We then drained and pressed the fermenters once we felt we had the desired extraction from the skins. The wine was aged in concrete tank (60%) and neutral French oak barrels (40%) for 4 months before being moved to tank for bottling.
