Fuso Belisario Le Salse Verdicchio

$ 22.00

Fuso’s Belisario Le Salse Verdicchio is a perfect introduction to Verdicchio, perhaps the most underrated of Italy’s noble white grapes. Grown in the inland, mountainous zone of Matelica, these vines benefit from cooler nights, higher altitudes, and limestone-rich soils laced with ancient marine fossils, giving the wine both freshness and depth. The name Le Salse refers to the salty mineral deposits that run through the vineyard, and that sense of salinity is unmistakable in the glass. Fermented with native yeasts and raised entirely in stainless steel, the wine puts an emphasis on precision, clarity, and approachability over embellishment. On the nose, it offers a mix of lemon zest, green pear, chamomile, and a wild herbaceous touch, while the palate balances citrusy acidity with a subtle almond-like savory texture and a clean, mineral-driven finish. It is at once bright and nervy yet grounded with an almost Burgundian structure, making it more complex than a simple quaffer. Perfect with oysters, grilled fish, or a creamy risotto, Le Salse also has the backbone to age gracefully, developing honeyed and nutty nuances over a few years in bottle.
