Clavelin Cremant du Jura Brut-Comte
Hubert Clavelin and his two sons cultivate vineyards in the Côte du Jura, a small mountain range about 30 miles east of the Côte d'Or in the Franche-Comté province. A parcel of very high limestone soil within their holdings is planted to Chardonnay, and from this site they produce their sparkling Brut Comte. The wine has earned acclaim in The Wine Advocate and is a consistent prizewinner in France—ideal for parties, weddings, and any celebration.
Region: Jura, France Varietal: 100% Chardonnay
Soil Type: High limestone
Vinification: Made using the traditional Champagne method, the wine is fermented in the bottle and each bottle is hand-riddled. The careful, hands-on approach yields a refined sparkling wine that drinks more like a fine Champagne than a typical Burgundian sparkler.
Tasting Notes: Fine, persistent bubbles with bright citrus, orchard fruit, and a clean, mineral-driven finish reflective of its limestone origins.
Pairing: Celebrations of all kinds, hors d'oeuvres, oysters, and lighter fare.
