Bodegas Frontonio Supersonico
Bodegas Frontonio “Supersónico” Garnacha is a high-altitude marvel crafted from 80+-year-old Garnacha bush vines grown on sandy-limestone and slate soils at 1,030 meters in the Valdejalón region of Aragón. Its pale brick red hue and ethereal presence speak to a wine that’s built from restraint rather than power. In the glass, it’s poised and almost weightless, with fragrant layers of redcurrant, wild raspberries, rose blossom, and dried herbs. There’s a mineral-laced bay leaf savory nuance with a whisper of crushed slate that keep it rooted in place. Fermented with full clusters and native yeasts, then aged for 12 months in large foudres and neutral barrels, the wine captures Garnacha’s freshness while gaining silky texture. On the palate, Supersónico is vibrant and tensile. Vivid red fruit is balanced by bright acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a subtle saline undercurrent that finishes with clarity and poise. This is Garnacha reimagined; elegance over power, juicy, and remarkably refined. Pop it in the fridge for a few and drink this alongside sheep’s milk cheeses and aged ham, grilled lamb with rosemary, an herb-forward Paella.
