Lady of the Sunshine California Red Wine

Lady of the Sunshine California Red Wine is a bold, biodynamic celebration of place that bridges California’s fog-kissed coast and its rugged Sierra foothills. Crafted by Gina Giugni, who farms and vinifies with minimal intervention, this blend combines 60% Nero d’Avola from the gravelly vineyards of Dry Creek Valley and the Sierra Foothills with 40% Pinot Noir from the Demeter-certified Chêne Vineyard in Edna Valley. The Nero d’Avola lends dark fruit, savory grip, and earthy spice, while the Pinot Noir contributes lifted aromatics, supple red fruit, and a line of coastal freshness. Both varieties are fermented with native yeasts, with about half the fruit kept whole-cluster, then co-pressed and aged for seven months in neutral French oak before being bottled unfined, unfiltered, and with minimal sulfur. In the glass compelling notes of black cherry and plum are layered with crushed graphite, marine minerality, dried herbs, and a vivid streak of blood orange on the finish. Textural, energetic, a little wild, and great with a chill, this red is as versatile at the table as it is expressive in the glass.  While it won’t overpower lighter fare, it pairs beautifully with grilled meats, game, or hearty vegetarian dishes like mushroom ragù.
