Chai de la Dive Les Moulins Saumur Rouge
Chai de la Dive Les Moulins Saumur Rouge is a lively and dynamic Cabernet Franc from the négociant project of cult favorite vigneron Romain Guiberteau along side up and coming rockstars Brendan Stater-West, Camille Guiberteau (Romain's daughter), and her partner Alex Crochet that offers exceptional value straight out of the Loire. Sourced from organically farmed parcels across Berrie, Brézé, and Montreuil-Bellay that span tuffeau limestone to sandy-clay over limestone soils, this wine blends youthful village level energy with terroir driven complexity. Destemmed and fermented with native yeasts, it undergoes a gentle 4–6 day maceration in concrete and stainless tanks, then spends six months aging in stainless steel to preserve vibrancy and lift. In the glass, it’s transparent ruby, exuding aromas of wild raspberries, red currants, violets, and a wisp of cracked pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, balancing juicy red fruit, think sour cherry and pomegranate, with savory sage, graphite, and a refreshing mineral undercurrent of wet stone. Fine-boned tannins and a gentle saline tension lead to a long, clean finish. This is an effortlessly food-friendly wine. Knock it down a few degrees and try it with herb-roasted chicken, lentil with mushrooms, or simply enjoy it on its own as a snapshot of the diverse terroirs of Saumur.
