Antoine Reniaume Bourgogne Rouge

$ 24.00

Antoine Reniaume’s Bourgogne Rouge captures the spirit of Northern Burgundy without leaning on excess ripeness or overt oak. Sourced from organically cultivated vineyards in the Hautes-Côtes and outer edges of the Côte de Beaune where altitude, wind exposure, and thin limestone-rich soils naturally yield smaller berries and higher acidity. There's minimal winemaking imprint here, Reniaume favors a low-intervention approach that lets vineyard character drive. The wine is vinified with a combination of de-stemmed and whole-cluster fruit to build both aromatics and structure. Fermentation is spontaneous, carried out in open-top tanks with gentle punchdowns to avoid over-extraction, followed by aging in mostly used oak barrels for about a year, allowing the wine to stabilize and evolve. The result is a wine that’s focused on freshness and finesse; offering red currant, wild strawberry, and blood orange peel, layered with dried thyme, tea leaf, and a whisper of crushed rock. On the palate, it’s light to medium-bodied, with fine tannins and an acid-driven framework that speaks to its higher-altitude origins. Served alone or alongside charcuterie, lentil stew, roasted game birds, or mushroom risotto, this is a great Bourgogne for those who prefer purity over polish, and structure over sheen.
